One response to “Obama: ‘Leaving no one behind’”

  1. Michelle

Obama has fought hard on behalf of the LGBT community, and is he is still swinging. Whether it is giving same-sex couples hospital visitation rights or ensuring federal workers can afford long-term care for their partners, this administration has shown that it is committed to fighting discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. How about the repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”? How about HUD regulations making it clear that the term “family” includes LGBT individuals and couples as eligible beneficiaries of public housing assistance?

Funny that Republican leader R. Clarke Cooper refers to a Thousand and One Nights Scheherazade. According to the legend Sultan Shahryar found his first wife unfaithful, and, after deciding that he hated all women, married and killed a new wife each day. The sultan enjoyed the stories so much that he put off her execution indefinitely and finally abandoned the idea altogether.

I liken the traitor of this story to the Log Cabin Republicans. Scheherazade will have a tough time touting the policies of Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, or Mitt Romney to the LGBT Community. Pardon the expression, but Log Cabin Republicans are as useful to the gay community as tits on a wart hog. What has any Republican done for the gay community lately?

Republican presidential nominee-apparent Mitt Romney reiterated his opposition to allowing gays to marry at a speech before Jerry Falwell’s university. The Washington Post ran a well-sourced story reporting that, in high school, Romney had led an assault on a fellow student that many believed to be gay.
