Supreme Court: No decision today

The Supreme Court did not issue its decisions in the marriage cases regarding Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) laws.

The two marriage decisions are apparently the most anticipated –at least by the 20,000 to 40,000 visitors to the live blog of decision release by scotusblog.com. Of those who answered the poll today (Monday, June 17), 43 percent said they were there primarily to find out about the same-sex marriage decisions. Only eight percent said they were there for the affirmative action decision, and 7 percent for the voting rights decision. Eighteen percent were there for several decisions and 25 percent were just interested generally.

The court issued five decisions, leaving 14 left to be issued this month.

The next date for issuing opinions is Thursday, June 20, at 10 a.m. EDT.
